Every private-sector employee in Saudi Arabia is registered with GOSI, the General Organization for Social Insurance, but what is paid depends on nationality and, for Saudis, on when they first joined. Since the new Social Insurance Law of July 2024, Saudis who start their first job after 3 July 2024 pay a pension rate that rises each July. This calculator applies the rates in force from 1 July 2026.

How it works

The contributory wage is basic salary plus housing allowance, capped at SAR 45,000 a month. Other allowances aren't included.

Non-Saudis: the employer pays 2% for occupational hazards. Nothing is deducted from the employee, and expatriates aren't covered by the pension or unemployment branches.

Saudis registered before 3 July 2024: pension (annuities) 9% from the employee and 9% from the employer, SANED unemployment insurance 0.75% each, and 2% occupational hazards from the employer. That's 9.75% from the employee and 11.75% from the employer.

Saudis first registered on or after 3 July 2024: the pension rate is 10% each from 1 July 2026, so 10.75% from the employee and 12.75% from the employer. It rises by 0.5% each July until it reaches 11% each in July 2028.

A worked example

A Saudi employee on the new system with SAR 12,000 basic and SAR 3,000 housing has a contributory wage of SAR 15,000. From July 2026 they pay 10.75%, SAR 1,612.50 a month, and the employer pays 12.75%, SAR 1,912.50. With SAR 1,000 of other allowances, take-home is SAR 14,387.50. For a non-Saudi on the same pay, the employer pays only SAR 300 and nothing comes out of their salary.

Questions people ask

What is the GOSI rate for Saudi employees in 2026?

For Saudis registered before 3 July 2024: 9.75% from the employee and 11.75% from the employer. For those first registered after that date: 10.75% and 12.75% from 1 July 2026.

Do expatriates pay GOSI in Saudi Arabia?

No deduction is made from their pay. The employer pays 2% of basic plus housing for occupational hazards insurance.

Which salary is GOSI calculated on?

Basic salary plus housing allowance, up to SAR 45,000 a month. Transport and other allowances aren't included.

Will GOSI rates keep rising?

For new-system Saudis, the pension rate rises by 0.5% for both employee and employer each July until July 2028, when it reaches 11% each.

Does GOSI affect end-of-service pay?

No. End-of-service awards are paid by the employer under the Labour Law and are calculated separately. Use the Saudi End of Service Calculator for that.
